- New president for CCF NSW
- After two years at the helm overseeing a remarkable amount of structural and cultural change in the New South Wales branch, president Joe Cato did not nominate for the role at this year’s AGM.
- Public holiday review
- NSW Minister for Industrial Relations John Hatzistergos, recently released an options paper for public discussion, prepared by Sydney University academic Professor Joellen Riley.
- President’s dinner
- This year CCF (NSW) will be moving the annual Parliament House dinner, which has traditionally been held in conjunction with the AGM, to a new venue.
- Sydney golf day
- The next CCF (NSW) golf day will be held at Camden Lakeside on Tuesday 6 October.
- Leaders’ forum
- Once again the New South Wales Branch will be holding the Annual CCF Leaders’ Forum on Friday 20 November 2009.
- Bauma 2010
- Members wishing to join the Bauma 2010 tour, are reminded to register their interest with Alan Bird as soon as possible.
- OH&S seminar
- Following the success of both the symposium on the use of recycled materials in construction, and the recent industrial relations seminar, the NSW branch has decided to hold a briefing on the new OH&S regulations at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Norwest on Friday 9 October 2009.
- Ministerial representations
- It has been an extremely busy period for CCF NSW with our engagement of both the Government and Opposition at a critical time
- Theft: what are we doing?
- Following some high profile concerns raised over the course of the year on the matter of theft from construction sites, the NSW Police have responded to our concerns, and we have open dialogue with Detective Inspector Jeff Beresford.
- Risk management
- CCF NSW has been part of a forum to encourage small and medium sized businesses to prepare risk management plans, particularly in these uncertain times.
- Reform of Sydney’s local government authorities
- In consultation with a number of other industry associations, CCF has been part of a Sydney wide discussion paper published by KPMG, calling on the State and Commonwealth to reform local government, particularly in the Sydney metropolitan area.
- Membership
- As a result of the economic uncertainties, CCF NSW has observed an increase in the number of resignations due to closure, merging or sale of operations. Members should be aware that unless other arrangements are made, services to members who are not financial by December, will cease immediately.
- “Friends of Infrastructure” lunches
- One of the new services CCF has offered in 2008 have been a series of intimate lunches with senior parliamentarians during sitting weeks. We were delighted to hold the first lunch with Lands Minister Tony Kelly in late November.
