Member honoured
It was a great honour to host members, associates and the family and friends of CCF stalwart and life member Don Stein, at a reception held in the Speaker’s Garden at State Parliament last month.
Don was named in this year’s Australia Day Honour’s list for services to CCF, becoming the first person to enter the Order of Australia for services to our Federation.
The reception was hosted by a good friend of CCF and Deputy Speaker, Wayne Merton, who has been a lifelong friend of Don’s. Don will be invested into the Order by the Governor at a service to be held at Government House on 5 May.
Hunter Golf Day
This year’s Hunter Golf Day will return to the world famous Cypress Lake Resort on Monday 31 May. Demand for a berth at this event is always high so please ensure you register early. Industry rates will be offered to members wishing to stay over on the Sunday night to ensure they are fresh and alert for the day’s play.
Railcorp representations
A great number of members dealing with Railcorp, have raised concerns at the manner in which inspectors, have been approaching alleged non compliance of contractual obligations.
These concerns have been raised directly with the Minister for Transport, David Campbell, and CCF management has met with Railcorp to express our concerns.
To date we have been encouraged by the seriousness with which the Government has acknowledged our reports, and we encourage all members who have been victimised by government agencies, to advise this office immediately.
Earth Awards
Planning for the 2010 Earth Awards is well underway with the new venue, Sydney’s five star Four Seasons Hotel, set to provide a refreshed and chic location. Members considering whether to nominate are encouraged to act soon. Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey, along with internationally acclaimed comedian Paul Martell, are sure to make the night a memorable one.
CCF members will be offered a special rate if they wish to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel. Due to the new venue numbers will be restricted to 500.
What’s the big idea?
CCF (NSW), as a member of the NSW Business Chamber, was thrilled to be part of the Chamber’s “10 Big Ideas to Grow NSW” last month. The call by the Chamber to reduce payroll tax, establish an Infrastructure NSW and amalgamate local government areas, are all commendable and would assist our industry significantly. Members are encouraged to view the ideas at www.10bigideas.com.au and CCF would welcom
