CCF SA annual dinner

A record number of attendees enjoyed a night of entertainment “under the stars” at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Media personality Peter Goers gave his unique perspective on being the MC for the night. The Solid Gold 70s show raised the tempo with band Fresh getting the dance floor full until past midnight. The Government and Opposition were well represented showing great support for the CCF SA branch.

CCF SAs new president Christopher Reynolds congratulated Tony Baulderstone as the SA representative on the national board who at the recent National Conference was endorsed as national vice president. Christopher also congratulated McConnell Dowell/Connor Wagner/DTEI who were National Earth Award winners in the $20m-$75m category 4 for the Bakewell Underpass in Adelaide.
Christopher went on to say, SA has undergone a resurgence in large infrastructure project activities recently. However in light of the financial upheaval and the announcement by the State Treasurer to defer and delay some future projects, its time to put the State Government on notice! I applaud the Federal Government in continuing to stimulate the industry with its announcement to spend part of the surplus on planned future infrastructure projects now.
In the Prime Ministers words, the only responsible thing to do. We will want to see that SA gets its fair proportion of this funding. If we want this state to grow we need to focus on our aging infrastructure and borrowing for the future is a good debit option.
We propose the government cuts spending on non-essential areas, and maintains the stimulus in the economy, with continued infrastructure projects as planned. This is the only way that South Australians will be guaranteed a job and this state will continue to grow and prosper for the future generations. This is the proactive response required now!
