Strategic planning
The board has started its strategic planning process, with the intention to cover our industry as a whole, and to be considering 5, 10, 15 and 20 years into the future.
This will allow us to project our professional mission and goals to the government as the premier civil infrastructure body in South Australia. This should be released as a public/community brochure during this year.
New head office
The CCF SA board, at its strategic planning day in April 2008, agreed that the we would co-locate training and member services, which are currently on two separate premises owned by us, into one head office building. After a lengthy review of available properties and consideration of the construction of a new building, No 1 South Road, Thebarton, was approved by the CCF SA Board as meeting the essential criteria. After an extensive due diligence process, the property was settled on March 1, 2010.
The building is well known and in a prominent site along Adelaide’s main North – South transport corridor. It will accommodate our current and future requirements. It has a combined site area of 5659m³, a total building area of about 4342m³, comprising 3388m³ of office accommodation (over two levels) and 954m³ of warehouse, plus associated onsite parking for about 85 vehicles.
Internal fit out of our new “One Stop Shop” has started. Preliminary drawings have been drafted that include a members’ internet lounge, history displays and heritage room , a hall of fame, a foyer, board room, meeting and function rooms, plan printing facilities, state of the art training and education facilities - including a virtual reality construction site, a students chill out area, a cafe, simulator rooms, fork lift training bays and more.
We will be having many milestone functions at our new home, but the special official opening and familiarisation event will involve all past and present members, associates and civil construction industry supporters. This member’s big day is not too far away.
Everyone is welcome at the new home of CCF in South Australia. (Our motto: UR#1@#1)
Inaugural CCF SA Training Awards
On April 14, Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education Jack Snelling, presented the prestigious Harry Wauer Memorial Award for the best civil construction trainee, to Joseph Kereama employed by DML Constructions. The Inaugural Civil Contractors Federation SA Training Awards were held at the Entertainment Centre and were well attended by the Civil Construction Industry.
The Harry Wauer Memorial Award is an important recognition for workers making their way in civil construction. A total of 10 awards were made at this showcase event, which included employer of the year and training co-ordinator of the year. Winners and finalists are being encouraged to enter the State training awards and the CCF National training awards.
