Victorian Electricity Supply Industry’s requirements
The Victorian Electricity Supply Industry (VESI) is introducing changes to the requirements for companies and individuals involved in the civil aspects of underground electricity infrastructure projects.
Victorian local government procurement training program
The CCF in partnership with VicRoads has recently completed a paper on Achieving Civil Infrastructure Procurement Best Practice. The report establishes that there is considerable interest by all parties in how procurement is carried out in the civil infrastructure sector within Victoria. The skill level of people undertaking procurement work was just one of many areas of concern.
Retirement
After long and considered deliberations, I have advised the board that I wish to retire from 31st January 2010.
OH&S consultancy
We have once again been able to access funding from WorkSafe, to provide members with up to 3 hours free OH&S consultancy, providing advice or services on OH&S matters that are impacting on you.
CFMEU enterprise bargaining activity
The CFMEU is approaching members to sign on to new union collective agreements entitled Union Collective Agreement 2008 - 2011.

Supply chain responsibility for driver fatigue management
As reported recently, new national road transport heavy vehicle driver fatigue laws took effect from 29 September 2008, setting revised work and rest limits for heavy vehicle drivers and requiring better management of driver fatigue. The reform makes all parties in the supply chain legally responsible.
Getting help to improve health and safety
WorkSafe has produced a handbook to assist employers, particularly in small and medium businesses, get help to improve OH&S and meet their duties in relation to Victorian laws. It may also provide useful information for large businesses, health and safety representatives (HSRs), managers, supervisors and employees.
