Getting help to improve health and safety

WorkSafe has produced a handbook to assist employers, particularly in small and medium businesses, get help to improve OH&S and meet their duties in relation to Victorian laws. It may also provide useful information for large businesses, health and safety representatives (HSRs), managers, supervisors and employees.

WorkSafe expects employers to take a proactive approach to improving health and safety, including looking at ways to better identify and control hazards before they cause an incident, injury, illness or disease.
The ways of getting help outlined in this handbook include:

  • contacting WorkSafe, unions, and employer, trade and industry associations;
  • developing the necessary OH&S expertise in-house; and
  • employing or engaging a person suitably qualified to provide OH&S advice.

To obtain a copy of the publication please contact Peter Fisher, CCF OH&S field officer on 0417 676 886.
