Claiming fuel tax credits
Members are reminded that new legislation has been enacted, which limits the time in which fuel tax credits can be claimed, to within a four year period. The four year limit expires four years after the due date for the activity statement for that period.
The new law applies to activity statements lodged or issued after 1 July 2010. There are some exceptions but as this is a very complex area, please go to www.ato.gov.au and look under Business GST essentials or see your adviser.
