John Deere J series dozers bound for NZ

Hitachi will take orders for the new 55 to 74 kW range of J series John Deere dozers. However the company does not plan to stock them here, although there will be some on hand in New Zealand by the new year.

Designated the 450J, 550J and 650J, their John Deere engines develop 55, 63 and 74kW respectively.

That is an increase of 3kW for the 550J compared with the 2002 released H model and an increase of 7kW for the 650J compared with the H.

Now all three are powered by the tier II compliant turbo charged JD4045T engine; previously just the 650H had this engine.

All models in the range feature full-featured hydrostatic drivetrains delivering full power turns, infinite speed ranges, infinitely variable track speeds and automatic load sensing.

State-of-the-art transmission control lets you precisely match machine operating characteristics to operator preferences for increased flexibility and productivity.

A low-effort decelerator/brake, slows travel speed while maintaining full engine rpm, for maximum hydraulic power and response.

Other features are optimal 60/40 weight distribution, low center of gravity, long wheelbase, and high ground clearance. Blade ratio and centre of gravity are optimised for superior balance, agility, and grade work.

Comfort Cab-forward design positions the operator close to the front for unsurpassed visibility behind, below and beyond the blade.

A deluxe suspension armchair adjusts seven ways for day long comfort and support. Adjustable armrests and foot pedals are standard.

An ergonomically designed single lever, gives low-effort control of steering, forward/reverse travel, and ground speed. A thumb-actuated switch controls travel speed.

An enhanced overhead instrument panel includes an electronic monitor with diagnostic capability and easy-to-operate sealed switches.

An optional, modular cab, includes a large expanse of tinted glass and air-conditioning.

Uptime/service A large fuel tank and 500-hour engine oil service interval lets you run longer between fill-ups and changes.

Lockable doors swing open wide, providing quick and ample access to dipsticks, filters, sight gauges, and maintenance-free batteries.

Hydraulic and hydrostatic reservoirs are separate, eliminating the possibility of cross contamination.

Remote test ports and diagnostic messaging enable technicians to quickly trouble shoot problems.
