Civenex back to full strength

Drawing visitors from metropolitan area as well as country and interstate, attendance was up 20% to 5000 trade visitors for the 2004 Civenex exhibition at the Sydney showgrounds in late May.

About 240 companies with products in 70 categories included Westrac for the first time as Caterpillar dealer for NSW and the ACT. Komatsu and Volvo returned after a year's absence.

Although the focus is on local government and public works – it is run by the NSW division of the Institute of Public Works Engineering – the event attracts visitors ranging from local councils through private contractors and landscapers to army personnel.

“The beauty of this event is that it covers so many areas of interest,” said event manager Frank Sticka. “2005 will be the 50th anniversary of the annual field days and the 100 th anniversary of the Institute, so we are planning to make it the best yet.”

CivEnEx Sydney is held every year in the fourth week of May at the SydneyShowground.
