Quest Earthwork quantifies earthworks easily

Quest Earthwork 6.5 is Quest Solution's comprehensive cut and fill measuring software which enables users to instantly get access to site information and data that is not possible with manual methods.
The company says there is no reason to dread the takeoff anymore: no more calculators, protractors, or slide rules. Instead, the Takeoff is a simple matter of tracing over your plans-once for existing elevations, and once for proposed elevations using a stylus pen and digitiser board to generate accurate cut and fill quantities.
Several takeoff tools enable users to easily digitise contours and count items like borings. Earthwork's Takeoff screen can handle multiple sheets, works with any known scale, and is comfortable with imperial or metric units. Users can easily customise all line styles and symbols and can even import takeoff information directly from AutoCAD or data collector files, or export cut and fill quantities directly to Estimator.
Area
In Earthwork, an area is a section of a job site for which users plan to calculate cut and fill totals. For example they might be the site perimeter, the job phase, or special construction areas like building pads, retention ponds and parking lots.
Digitising areas works the same way as digitising contours — once for the existing layer, and once more for the proposed layer. Here users can raise or lower elevations in an area, and strip or replace topsoil.
3D view
The 3D view gives a realistic, birds-eye perspective of existing and proposed elevations. Rotate the view and users can view the site from almost any angle. Then zoom in for extra detail or zoom out to get the big picture. Color-code the 3D view by elevation or by cut and fill amounts. And of course, the Flyby feature provides a guided tour of the site, at any altitude and speed.
Section
The Section view gives a cross section view of elevations between any two points on the site. Because users can see both existing and proposed elevations simultaneously, they'll get a quick idea of just how much cut or fill will be required for any section.
The station interval is completely customisable; set it as high or low as needed. What's more, sections are not limited to straight lines between two points. Generate profiles consisting of any number of points, and easily profile the site perimeter for example, or the perimeters of any special construction areas.
Grid view
The Grid view displays elevations and cut and fill amounts in a gridded format. Choose any pre-defined area to view, like site perimeters, phases or special construction areas. Users will see totals for both cut and for fill, with the net amount available in the corner. You can even turn off contours, or enable color-coding for cut and fill amounts.
Summary
The Summary screen shows a complete breakdown of cut and fill quantities, totaled at the top with breakdowns below. Breakdowns are displayed by area and layer (existing and proposed), and include the measured quantity, swell and yield factors, and adjusted total quantity. And Earthwork's Balance feature enables users to balance their entire site in just a few seconds.
Layout
Share information about the job site with the guys in the field. With the Layout window, users can offset and stake lines in either the proposed or existing layer and generate staking reports. From there, it's easy to export the staking report to a data file that can be loaded by a GPS or laser total station.
