All four models of New Holland's LM series of telehandlers are powered by a 4.5L fuel efficient engine and feature a low centre of gravity, easy service access, best-in-class overhead visibility and enhanced right-hand side visibility.
Produced at the company's factory in Leece, Italy, lift capacity ranges from 3.2t on the LM732 model to 6t on the LM1060 model.
“The LM732 is ideal for the hire market with its joystick controls, heavy duty drive line and power shift transmission, making it both easy and economical to operate,” explained Kieron Thompson, New Holland Construction's product manager. “For operators needing a more powerful machine, or greater lift with the boom extended, the LM740, with its 4t lift capacity and 7m lift height, is the ideal choice.
“For space restricted work sites, we've developed the LM1133 with a 3.4m turn radius and 11m lift height. Meanwhile, the top of the line heavy-duty LM1060 with a 6t lift capacity and 10m lift height, is built for use in rough terrain and heavy duty applications such as handling concrete products and poles.”
All new models have been designed to enable them to meet the latest Australian Safety Standards. “Under the new AS1418.19. standard, any machine handling a suspended load needs to provide the same level of safety as a crane. To achieve this, the new range prevent overloading through the inclusion of a programmable load management system which also delivers additional benefits such as displaying the mass of the load.
“It is also engineered to suit Australia's rugged working conditions. For example, we've massively increased the size of the cooling system surface area to prevent overheating and ensure continuous cycling even in hot, dusty conditions,” Thompson said.
When it comes to service, simplicity is built into the design with oil changes at 500-hour intervals and easy access to key engine components. The LM732 and LM740 are currently available in Australia; while the larger LM1060 and LM1133 models are due to arrive by October 2008. These new models are in addition to the previously released 14- and 17-m models.
