Heavy duty crash tested bollards now in Australia

Crash tested ATG Access bollards, capable of stopping a 7.5t truck travelling at 80km/h, are now available in Australia.

WA company Image Bollards is the exclusive Australian distributor. Used internationally at the Emirates Stadium in the UK and to protect the British Consulate in Turkey, the SP1000 model conforms to British Standard PAS68, because it is capable of bringing a vehicle to a complete halt with nil penetration. The impact dynamics match those specified in USA Department of State K4, K8 and K12 crash ratings.

The bollard has previously won product of the year at the Builder and Engineer Awards and was nominated in the security in the public realm category at the Institute of Highways and Transportation Awards 2007, also in Britain.

Suitable for high security locations, the SP1000 is ideal for property owners who are concerned about the recent spate of ram raids on Australian businesses.

In July a Mercedez Benz smashed through the security grille of the Perth Gucci store and thieves stole a number of valuables. On the Gold Coast, workers at a dental practice narrowly escaped injury, after a four wheel drive crashed through its front doors.

Image Bollards MD Tony Scott said the scenario occurs more often than most people realise, but can be prevented, if business owners understand the importance of effective security measures.

“Other options such as security grills and alarm systems can be a deterrent to some criminals but are not capable of actually stopping a vehicle from ram raiding,” he said.

Image has on-going contracts to supply and maintain bollards and speed humps to large international companies including McDonalds, Target, Liquorland, Multiplex and Holiday Inn.
