Lubrication equipment manufacturer Macnaught Australia, has just invested more than $1.2m on advanced technology CNC (computer numerically controlled) machining centres, at its Sydney factory.

This follows construction of an in-house, climate-controlled quality inspection laboratory, with a computerised inspection machine capable of measuring to an accuracy of just a few microns (0.001mm).
Installing the high-precision CNC machinery will benefit Macnaught customers in several ways, according to CEO Peter Macnaught.
Firstly, our new equipment incorporates the latest technology with positioning accuracy +/- 0.002mm (0.00008in) and repeatability +/- 0.001mm (+/-0.00004in). Secondly, these state-of-the-art machine tools are capable of completing a component in as few as one or two operations. That is a major benefit because the key to ensuring a high standard is to minimise the number of times a part is handled during the machining process.
Peter Macnaught also highlights the advantages of having world-class CNC machining centres in-house rather than outsourcing from local or offshore suppliers.
