Volvo’s paver management system means less noise, less fuel
|
Volvo’s new ABG7820B and ABG8820B tracked pavers, come with the company’s latest electronic paver management system, which delivers fuel savings of between 15 and 30% and less noise by matching engine speed to the job at hand. |
|
The EPM system provides the operator with a clear overview and control of all paving processes. At any time, he can view engine data and paving function menus, on the control panel’s colour screen.
Because many applications do not require the engine’s full output, operators can select the smart power mode which lowers engine speed, while maintaining screed tamper, vibrator and paving speed. Smart power also includes a fuel consumption indicator by the minute, the day or any selected period.
To protect against damage or vandalism, the EPM and auxiliary control panels can be safely stowed in easily accessible, lockable compartments.
Designed for contractors working on medium and large-scale applications, the company says they lay smooth, even mats with precision and efficiency from 2.5 to 13m. The 170 and 182 kW Volvo D7 engines powering them, meet EU IIIA/EPA Tier 3 emission standards.
Versatile performance
Both machines are suitable for paving duties from wearing course down to base courses in a wide range of materials, including all hot bituminous coated materials, dry lean, RCC and CBBM concrete courses, railway ballast and graded mineral mixes.
Automatically controlled, independent travel drive on each crawler unit, ensures uniform propulsion, straight travel, precise cornering and a smooth, even mat. Independent drives for both bar conveyors and augers ensure paving material reaches both sides of the screed. Easily raised or lowered road surface scrapers clear debris and provide a clean, smooth tracking surface.
The ABG7820B and ABG8820B have been designed for easy access to all maintenance points. But they feature lifetime-lubricated tracks with an automatic tensioning system, along with maintenance-free bearings for the screed tamper and vibrator. An optional central lubrication system is also available to save time and money.
Safety margin
Operators can adjust the position of both seats and control panel to meet personal preferences. The elevated seat provides a clear view of the mat thickness, scales, material flow in the hopper, paving screed and the auger channel. Both seats can also be laterally extended beyond the outer edge of the paver to improve the view. The sides of the sun roof can be extended outward to offer protection from weather.
Both Variomatic and fixed screed models can be supplied as double or single tamper versions.
