Water Trucks’ modules integrate baffles

Sydney based road tanker maker and renter, Water Trucks Direct, uses a unique modular polyester design for its tanks, which means it can produce tankers from 4200 to 30,200L that use much the same componentry, depending on customer requirements and chassis available.

Each module has a capacity of 2000L, and provides an integrated baffle arrangement, that eliminates surges, said Water Trucks Direct MD Brenden Bastian. “That provides real advantages in terms of stability.”
The tankers come with a unique rear spray bar and water distribution system that enables real flexibility in tanker operations. For example, tankers can load water from either a stand pipe or from streams, rivers or dams.
Water Trucks uses high volume Aussie transfer pumps for fast filling in 75, 100 and 125mm sizes. They are either PTO or hydraulically driven with diesel engine options available too.
Smaller tankers in the 10,000 litre range, use Aussie Pumps’ 75mm self priming gushers, that produce flows of up to 1500L/m. Honda petrol engines, and Yanmar diesel drives, are both used depending on application and customer requirements.
Water delivery can be either through the spray bar or via a hose reel with up to 30m of hose and a high pressure fire fighting style nozzle that enables the operator to carry out watering functions or wash down on construction sites.
Tankers can be kitted out with water cannons and both front and rear sprayer heads, whilst an Aussie Pumps high pressure hydraulic driven pressure washer, in capacities of up to 4000psi, is available as an accessory.
“The high pressure water blaster, can utilise the water from the tank, to clean plant and equipment in the field, facilitating service and maintenance procedures on earthmoving and mining equipment,” Bastian said.
The high pressure pump is an Aussie Fire Chief, in either diesel or petrol engine driven configuration. These provide flows of up to 500L/m and heads as high as 100m. That is more than 150psi.
Australian Pump engine drive tanker pumps are available in both manual and electric start. Electric start enables the operator to operate the pump function from the cab.
