Aussie firm makes own skidsteers, to work its profilers better

Schibeci Road Services decided to build its own ride on skidsteers, when the several models available did not deliver the features the company wanted, to operate its Melbourne made Schibeci profilers.

MD and Civil Contractors Federation stalwart Rick Schibeci, (pictured) was on Kennards stand at Civenex in Sydney two weeks ago, to talk about the merits of the Schibeci machines.
Schibeci himself has been milling, profiling and grinding largely concrete and asphalt horizontal surfaces for 26 years and has been making profilers, planers and grinders to suit for 15. Kennards now have five complete Schibeci machines for hire and will have another five in various parts of the country by the end of the financial year, Schibeci says.
The company makes 28 milling, grinding profiling and trenching attachments weighing up to 950kg with operating widths up to 600mm. They fit not only on its 930kg Schibeci 827DE and its 590kg 16PE skidsteers, but bigger skidsteers like Mustangs from other manufacturers. For its own skidsteers, the range includes three profilers of various sizes, a milling type edger, a planer, a grinder, a grinding mode edger and a Polyplaner. The latter is designed for line removal on roads and trip hazard removal from footpaths. A Power Grinder 7500, is designed to turn dull concrete floors into glossy, interesting features.
Schibeci said the company’s South African dealer, recently sold a Schibeci RM150 trencher, for excavating a 150mm wide trench to take fibre optic cables. It has been fitted to a Dingo skidsteer and will take a couple of years to trench 7000km of trench through South Africa.
Schibeci’s 1.55m long and 970mm wide 827DE skidsteer, features a 20kW diesel or electric motor driving non marking tyres, an hydraulic cooler, more hydraulics and controls than Dingos or Kangas – it pumps 47L/m of oil - a vacuum cleaner to keep dust under control and a water kit.
A smaller 12kW 16PE can be petrol or electric motor driven and will work the products at the smaller end of the Schibeci range.
