Berco track system reduces operating costs 15 to 25%

Berco field tests have proved that a new track system, increases track life by up to 35%, to a maximum of 6000 hours and reduces operating costs by 15 to 25%. Called ROBUSTUS, an acronym for its ROtating BUShing Track Undercarriage System, Berco launched it at Bauma 2010 last month.

According to common experience, 50% or more of the maintenance costs of a crawler dozer or loader, belong to undercarriage maintenance and repairs. Increasing undercarriage life is therefore a winning strategy.
As suggested, the core feature of the new Berco system, is rotating bushing. In a machine fitted with a traditional undercarriage, the sprocket slides on the external surface of the bushing during normal operation, causing bushing and sprocket wear.
In the new system, the bushing rotates when in contact with the sprocket, reducing bushing and sprocket friction and wear, thus enabling longer life. As a consequence, it is not necessary to turn bushes and pins and replace sprocket segments during the whole life of the undercarriage.
A wider track link rail – a big footprint track link - provides an extended running surface area, balancing the wear of all components and eliminating scalloping wear in the contact between chain and roller and between chain and idler. The reinforced hardware improves joint stability. The resulting dampening of vibrations and noise assures a more comfortable ride and maximum control of the machine.
Berco pin retention (BPR) and improved seal design, produce a lasting seal capacity, and assure long life to the complete system.
ROBUSTUS is fully compatible with existing frames and standard components: older machines can be easily upgraded to increase undercarriage life and productivity. In the same way it is forward-compatible with new generation undercarriages equipped with parallel or twin links.
