French backhoe/excavator hits Australia
|
Nearly four years after its release at Intermat Paris in 2006, two of Haulotte’s three-in-one Multijob MJXs arrive in Melbourne this month, to be trialled in the Australian market from March. |
|
Already successful in Italy, Spain and France, the company’s next logical step was to roll them out on Australian construction sites, said new Haulotte Australia GM Grant Mitchell.
As its name suggests, the Multijob is a front-end loader, backhoe loader and excavator rolled into one compact machine.
With a pushing force of 9t and a lifting capacity of 3.2t, it features a double offset boom, which allows operators to work while leaving sufficient space to let other vehicles pass. Its turning circle is just 4.2m, which is at least half a metre better than existing solo backhoe loaders.
Mitchell said, “And when you’ve finished with the backhoe, the quick attach feature on the excavator and loader, allows you to change your tools in no time from the cab. You can also reverse the bucket to dig the other way, or dig a trench and put the dirt in its own bucket.”
Whether using the excavator or loader, the progressiveness of the hydrostatic transmission, combines with the accuracy of the steering system, to enable operators to benefit in any environment from the exceptional performance of the four, drive/steer wheels. Plus, an inching pedal allows slow and accurate movement.
“Its design means you never have to sacrifice performance for the sake of convenience. The front end loader option, for example, has a 3.5m reach and a lifting height of 4.3m,” Mitchell adds.
At the other end the excavator delivers a reach of 7.1m and a height of 4.1m. It will also dig down to 4.1m which is more than enough for most jobs around town.
Mitchell says, “With its rigid chassis the Multijob boasts superior stability, no matter what the rotation position of the excavator is. “It’s been designed for use on any surface, thanks to the backhoe stabilisers. So one minute you can be scraping, the next minute digging.
“Excavator and loader control stations are easily adaptable to any user, multifunction control levers are ergonomically designed for optimum operator comfort, and large windows provide unrestricted all-round visibility.”
The Haulotte Group will provide operator training and a three-year guarantee to meet local industry association/statutory organisation requirements.
In other news from Haulotte, spare parts have gone through some changes with a new web portal now available. Customers can now access parts by number or by model, or they can even search by the unit, to access the part they need.
Part two of the Ezi Parts system will be launched mid year and allows customers to actually purchase parts online via a shopping cart system. They’ll then be able to see what’s in stock in Australia, order it and have it placed on their account.
