And the company says, all existing Zaxis-3 excavators working in the field today, are ROPS compatible too. All they require is a simple inspection from the company’s professional service staff to become certified.
To facilitate the ROPS certification process, Hitachi has launched a comprehensive advertising campaign, and all current Zaxis-3 owners will be directly notified of this value-adding opportunity.
National engineering manager Andrew Wilson, who coordinates the program said, “The inclusion of ROPS compatibility as standard on all 7–50t Zaxis-3 excavators puts Hitachi in a market leading position in Australia, and showcases our commitment to innovation and safety. Because Hitachi has always put operator safety first, our customers are already prepared for the ISO standard—long before their competitors.”
While ROPS is not currently a mandatory legal requirement for excavators in Australia, demand for this important safety consideration is increasing, as its recognition grows.
Hitachi recognised in the mid 2000s that ROPS certification was on the horizon, and designed its Zaxis-3 CRES II cabs to meet a higher safety certification, than existed at the time. That level has been in place since the release of the Zaxis-3 range in 2006 along with rear view cameras, DataDot™ tagging and e-Service satellite monitoring as standard. So when the ISO standard* was released in 2008, its cabs were automatically compatible.
Current Zaxis-3 owners will be contacted by Hitachi to be notified of the certification service. They may also contact Hitachi’s national toll free number (1300 HITACHI) to be placed on a priority service list.
