Vandals strike on earthmoving equipment

In the last few weeks there have been four separate cases of vandalism and theft from excavators and bulldozers working on the Sapphire to Woolgoolga Pacific Highway upgrade on the mid north coast of NSW. |

Between 6pm Wednesday November 23 and 6.15am Monday, November 28, thieves smashed a window of a Hitachi excavator parked on the northern end of Graham Drive at Sandy Beach 4km south of Woolgoolga and stole a fire extinguisher worth $150.
Then between 5pm on Thursday November 24 and Monday, November 28, vandals smashed windows of four 20t articulated dump trucks and an excavator on Embankment Road, Mullaway, 5km north of Woolgoolga, so they could steal two-way radios from each.
Overnight on Thursday December thieves stole 1890L of diesel from a dozer parked in the Graham Drive area. Another 850 litres was stolen from an excavator at the same place. Thieves also broke into the control room of a cement batching plant also at Sandy Beach and stole two desktop computers.
Police have been patrolling the area and urge anyone with information, or anyone who notices any suspicious activity, to contact the Woolgoolga Police on 02 6654 1244 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
