WorkCover NSW will host 23 free information sessions throughout NSW over the next two months on the new work health and safety laws being introduced next year. |

From 1 January 2012, all NSW employers and workers must apply new work health and safety laws in their workplaces. The free information sessions will cover key areas of the new laws, what the changes mean for NSW businesses and workers, and how businesses and workers can prepare for the introduction of the new laws.
General Manager of WorkCover’s Work Health and Safety Division, John Watson, said the information sessions will be run by WorkCover health and safety experts who will outline how the new laws affect industry.
“WorkCover is committed to supporting business and industry prepare for the new arrangements,” Mr Watson said. “These information sessions will help local employers and workers develop a greater understanding of the impact of the new work health and safety laws on their workplaces. While what is safe now will continue to be safe under the new arrangements, it is important businesses, industry and workers understand the key changes.”
Mr Watson said that WorkCover would also hold a webinar on the new laws during December.
“The information sessions are proving extremely popular and we urge anyone interested in attending to register immediately,” he said. “For those who can’t make it or are unable to secure a place, we will be holding a webinar on 15 December. All you need is a computer with an internet connection to participate, so we’re encouraging employers, workers and industry to go online and register.”
