Tier 4 engines set contractors apart

As local governments take the industry lead in requiring the use of emissions-reducing Tier 4 engines on work sites, New Holland Construction’s latest range of C-Series wheel loaders is set to place contractors ahead of the game.

With Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology standard in all three C-Series models, the new range meets the Tier 4 requirements to reduce emissions, along with delivering increased power and fuel savings of up to 10 percent.

Wayne Munce, New Holland Construction Marketing Manager, said the inclusion of SCR technology is in keeping with the organisation’s commitment to staying ahead of the pack when it comes to environmental responsibility.

“For contractors, there’s the incentive of being able to use the environmental benefits of the technology as a selling point when tendering for new work, particularly on local government and semi-government contracts where reduced emissions are becoming a standard requirement. For operators, there’s the benefit of enhanced occupational health and safety through better air quality,” said Wayne.

SCR technology is an after-treatment system which breaks down the nitrogen oxides (NOx) into nitrogen and water through a chemical reaction with a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) known as AdBlue.

Importantly, the technology is easy to use and cost effective. “Topping up the DEF tank with AdBlue is simple. A warning light will signal if the DEF tank is running low and it’s just a matter of topping it up as part of the standard fluid check or when topping up on fuel. AdBlue is readily available right across our dealer network,” said Wayne.

In addition to their Tier 4, 6.7-litre engines, the new C-Series wheel loaders boast a range of other features for increased productivity and power on site. The C-Series has been designed with stronger and faster hydraulics for exceptional performance, additionally, the new optional five-speed transmission with lock-up torque converter provides faster acceleration, quicker cycle times and higher travel speeds.

“We’ve made a commitment to the industry to deliver equipment which enhances power, reduces operating costs, while protecting the long term sustainability of our environment. The new C-Series is testament to that commitment,” said Wayne.
