Portable MIG welder shows intelligence
|
Powerful welding power doesn’t always mean a big heavy welder and the new Caddy MIGC200i, from ESAB puts powerful welding capability in a portable 12 kg package including torch and cables. |
|
The C200i is a portable intelligent MIG welder from ESAB
True to the Caddy pedigree, this compact welder easily does fabrication, repair and maintenance work with materials like steel, stainless steel, aluminium and can also do MIG/MAG brazing using silicon bronze wire. Electrode polarity can be changed for use with gasless wires.
According to ESAB’s Damian Cann, “The MIG C200i is the lightest welding unit in its output class, with performance that belies its small size. The welder’s power factor correction (PFC) feature provides 30% more welding power from the same sized fuse. This also allows the welder to be used on a 6.5 kVa generator with voltage regulator.”
Extremely easy to use, the welder is equipped with the QSet artificial intelligence feature, which automatically sets all of the welding parameters. QSet keeps adjusting and maintaining the optimum wire/gas combination throughout the welding process, to provide the best welding arc and consistent quality.
All the operator has to do is install a suitable welding wire and gas combination, select QSet, select material thickness and weld for four seconds. The welder then just sets itself. It’s worth noting that the QSet feature is insensitive to contact tip to work distance, or stickout, allowing a less skilled operator to achieve excellent results.
Inside the Caddy MIG 200i side panel is a wire feeder that fits a standard 200mm wire spool, with an inner diameter of 51 mm. The welder comes with the ergonomic, high quality MXL180 torch, with 3 m cable. The tough enclosure is rated to class IP23 and operating temperature is up to 40C.
The welder works off mains voltage and has a maximum welding output of 200A.
