Atlas Copco is offering a trip to Perisher Blue in the 2004 skiing season, to the most innovative user of compressed air. Also, the winner will receive a free plant room evaluation where that is appropriate.

An example of air-activated earthmoving innovation in Britain, is where an operator uses compressed air to aerate compacted soil around tree roots.

The Perisher Blue connection revolves around the resort using compressed air to produce and blow man made snow onto slopes in the ski season. The winner and a friend will have the opportunity to see the snow guns in action and try out the end result.

Last year the Atlas Copco mounted a competition to find the oldest Atlas Copco compressor in the country.

It created widespread interest and winning access to two more than 40-year-old AR4 units operated by Hanna Print, Melbourne.

To enter this year's compressor quest, or to nominate another ingenious compressed air user, send a short outline of the use and contact details to kathy.smart@au.atlascopco.com

Entries will be judged for environmental, energy saving or productivity ingenuity by a judging panel that will include perisher Blue snow making manager John Palmer, Atlas Copco general manager John Cleeve and other company service and business line managers.

Entries close on March 31, 2004 with finalists announced during April. Awards will be made during National Manufacturing Week in May.
