Palestinian American artist Nida Sinnokrot mainly exhibited these two backhoe arms as sculpture in this year’s Sharjah Biennial in the United Arab Emirates.

It was shown also in several other venues in the UAE. The sculpture, Ka (JCB), is built of two symmetrical JCB backhoe arms. With this symbolic placement, the artist said he was invoking the Egyptian concept of life force, or ka, signified in hieroglyphics by 2 raised arms with the palms stretched outward. Sinnokrot said the work serves as both a monument to future peace and a comment on the construction boom taking place in the Middle East.
