A high work load and harsh environment

A key part of the process is handling and loading the silica for transport to the processing plant.

“The high work load and harsh environment experienced by the equipment needed a maintenance solution that would ensure these vehicles were kept in good working order,” said Michael Green of Lloyd North, which provides the excavator and dump truck via long term dry hire at the silica site, where they are deployed for collecting and loading the abrasive material.
“After looking at the options, we installed Groeneveld automatic greasing on the excavator and the dump truck. Not only has this given us the assurance of continual lubrication and maintaining the vehicles’ value, our customer also appreciates the added productivity by not having to stop to grease the equipment,” he said.
According to Groeneveld, unlike normal greasing where grease doesn’t stay in the place it needs to be to protect against friction, its system delivers a constantly metered supply to moving parts, assuring the entire surface of critical components are lubricated.
Lloyds North provides a range of logistics, transport, forestry, mining, quarry and equipment hire. It hires wheel loaders, excavators, and forklifts, serving predominantly customers in the forestry and mining sectors.
