TracMap GPS a first time exhibitor
|
New Zealand based company TracMap NZ, is to exhibit its award winning GPS guidance and reporting system for the first time, on stand NP7 at the Civil Works Expo. |
|
It provides a complete GPS guidance solution for vehicles operating in the utilities and civil works sectors, including local government, VicRoads, Country Fire Authority etc.
The robust system, displays target areas to vehicle operators, on a large easily viewed screen. As tasks are completed, the applications are recorded and displayed. At the end of the job, reporting of the job details is easily produced, for proof of completion.
The company has developed the system using the same principles that has seen it grow in the New Zealand agricultural market. In only three years, TracMap has become the largest provider of GPS technology to New Zealand farmers. This success has been based on working closely with end consumers, while ensuring it remains simple to use.
The demand for TracMap system has been so great that the company was recently announced as the 8th fastest growing company in NZ in the Deloitte Fast 50 awards.
The similarities between agriculture and civil works were no surprise to MD Colin Brown. “Vehicle operators need a simple to use system that gets them to the right location, provides information when they are there, and reports at the touch of a button. So response from initial customers has been fantastic.”
The benefits of the purpose-designed TracMap system, are obvious when talking to vehicle operators. “Large buttons, simple menus and large daylight viewable screen, even when wearing high visibility, vests were all “must haves”. These have been incorporated into the system. The system also needed to be robust, as well as waterproof and dust proof. We designed it to be a tool that makes it easier for vehicle operators and owners, not a hindrance”.
Operators are gaining significant productivity benefits from the system. Jobs to be completed can be uploaded via a USB key at the beginning of the day. Paperwork is significantly reduced through having target areas on screen, which makes it easier to provide detailed and accurate reports to the contract provider. The risk of errors in the performance of the work is also significantly reduced as a result of target areas being displayed.
One of the other features of the TracMap system is the ability to easily manage information. It can be posted to www.yourmaps@tracmap and is kept securely for owners, managers, or other authorised users. The website also allows the information to be used in a number of ways, including in PDF reports showing tracks and job details including area covered, to overlaying the tracks on aerial imagery.
Colin Brown, is excited about the expansion into Australia. “Our customers in New Zealand love the fact the system is so simple to operate, and has been designed with them in mind. Feedback from our customers in Australia show the need is the same over here.”
From the large daylight viewable screen, large buttons, and the simple to use menu, it has all been designed with the contractor in mind”.
