The three projects have a combined value of $184m and will help improve sewerage services in Sydney’s north-west.
The $118m Three Towns sewerage scheme, will connect residents and businesses in Glossodia, Freemans Reach and Wilberforce, with a reticulated sewerage system. It will involve welding and burying more than 116km of pipeline, including a 760m pass under the Hawkesbury River. Almost 1600 residents will be eligible to connect to the new system, with wastewater transported directly to the Richmond STP.
The $22m Agnes Banks and Londonderry scheme will provide about 290 households with the opportunity to connect to a new sewerage system. The project, which will improve the environmental performance of existing wastewater infrastructure, involves welding and burying about 15km of pipes. Wastewater will also be transported through the new system directly to the Richmond STP.
The $44m Yellow Rock and Hawkesbury Heights scheme will give about 360 unsewered properties the opportunity to connect to a new pressure sewerage system. The work involves installing roughly 22km of pipeline and the transfer of wastewater to Winmalee Sewage Treatment Plant for high-level tertiary treatment. Sydney Water will provide the pressure sewer equipment and a connection point for each eligible property that commits to connecting to the new system.
The PSP Alliance has been established to provide improved services to unsewered urban communities in Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains. Construction work on all projects is underway and is expected to be completed by March 2011.
