Energy2U Alliance to help NSW power upgrade

In late May Leighton Contractors joined AECOM, PowerServe and EnergyAustralia as the owner participant, in the Energy2U Alliance.

It will provide EnergyAustralia with additional capacity to manage expected overflow works from EnergyAustralias proposed capital works program.
Overall that is an $8bn electricity network upgrade and renewal project for the Sydney, Hunter Valley and Central Coast regions between 2009 and 2014.
The Energy2U Alliance is one of two private-sector service alliances awarded by EnergyAustralia for this purpose. EnergyAustralia expects to provide the Energy2U Alliance with about $100m of over-flow project work a year.
Projects will be assigned as they become necessary and the specific terms of individual projects will be negotiated on a case by case basis. Discussions on the first project for the Energy2U Alliance are underway.
The works provided by the Energy2U Alliance will predominately relate to the provision of turn-key engineering services including design, construction and procurement for civil works, buildings, and mechanical and electrical works for multiple high-voltage substations.
