Cat second quarter profit exceeds analysts’ estimates

Caterpillar, the world’s biggest manufacturer of earthmoving equipment – 2008 sales totalled $A63.36bn ($US51.324bn) - has posted a second quarter profit that exceeded analysts’ estimates, and increased its full year forecast. Share prices rose about 6% after the announcement.
