Developed over the past two years by British based QMJ Publishing Ltd, publishers of Quarry Management magazine and organisers of Hillhead 2010, the world’s largest quarrying and recycling exhibition, it provides daily updated news supplemented by weekly UK & RoI e-bulletins and fortnightly international e-bulletins.
Registered users of the site can also opt to receive news alerts which provide the latest updates on a range of specific topics as soon as they are posted on the site.
The website also allows users to become part of a growing interactive aggregates network or community via its Forum section, which caters for the exchange of ideas and information online; its Ask an Expert facility, through which a number of key industry specialists are available to comment on issues and problems; and its blogs, which encourage comment and debate on pertinent topics.
In addition, a vast archive of technical articles, case studies and news items published by QMJ over the past 10 years can be found on the website, together with the entire contents of the Directory of Quarries and Quarry Equipment, which includes some 10,000 listings of quarries, companies, plant suppliers and organisations.
This is supplemented by a wealth of entirely new content that has been specially developed for Agg-Net.com, including comprehensive OH&S and environmental risk-management systems, both of which include a wide range of easy-to-use guidance and procedures that can be downloaded from the site free of charge.
Other new sections include a straightforward and helpful guide to standards and specifications and a who’s who section to help pinpoint key personnel and specialists within the industry. A multimedia gallery containing both videos and images is also provided, together with a detailed and informative glossary of more than 2000 terms specific to the aggregates and mineral processing industries.
Visitors to the website will also find details of all the latest job opportunities in the industry, as well as a regularly updated event diary, together with direct access to the Hillhead 2010 exhibition website.
