JCB, Volvo join forces to make skidsteers

JCB and Volvo have agreed to cooperate on engineering and making skidsteers and compact tracked loaders, for distribution under their respective brands and through their respective global dealer networks.

It is envisaged that the first mono boom Volvo branded machines, will be in production at JCB’s Savannah, Georgia facility, by the end of 2010. Volvo will then transition skid steers over time from its Pederneiras facility in Brazil.
Deputy chairman of JCB John Patterson said, “This agreement will allow us to combine forces in this key product area, enabling both brands to compete more effectively.”
Volvo Construction Equipment president Olof Persson said Volvo customers would benefit too. What that meant was a wider range of models “that maintain the high level of product safety and functionality that they expect.”
