The Department of Environment and Resource Management has approved Stage 1 of the dredging at Fisherman’s Landing as part of the company's  Gladstone LNG project.

The dredging includes widening the Targinie Channel and the widening and deepening of the Fisherman’s Landing Wharf No.5 berth pocket and turning basin to accommodate LNG vessels with a capacity of up to 152,000 cubic metres.

The approval, which includes the relocation of the dredged material to a previously approved onshore site, meets all major marine and port conditions required for Fisherman’s Landing, LNG Ltd managing director Maurice Band said.

“[It] allows the company to immediately proceed to final investment decision and recommencement of construction as soon as it has secured gas supply and LNG offtake arrangements with a credible LNG buyer,” Mr Brand said.
