Old Kodak factory to be subdivided

The Victorian Planning Ministry has handed back planning controls for the 20.5ha Kodak factory site redevelopment to Moreland Council after approving a master plan for the development.

The site actually covers 27ha, but 7ha on the west side of Edgars Creek, will remain zoned industrial.
The plan provides for more than 380 houses, a neighbourhood hub and new open spaces as part of the $282m conversion.
The site, close to Sydney road and less than 10km north of the CBD, closed as a Kodak film factory in November 2004. It is close to transport, services and amenities.
The master plan features environmentally sustainable and water sensitive urban design principles including stormwater management systems, buildings that optimise passive energy and landscaping that emphasises biodiversity with the use of indigenous species.
It has been estimated that more than 750 direct and indirect jobs will be generated on the site.
