Abigroup appoints new rail chief

Greg Rush has brought more than 23 years rail business experience to his new job of general manager rail for Abigroup.

  

Based in Abigroup’s Melbourne Office, he has been responsible for developing and operating successful rail businesses in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
In his new role he will be working to build Abigroup’s national rail business which has seen the company:
•    Design and build 110km of railway line as part of the Bauhinia Regional Rail project for Queensland Rail;
•    Duplicate and realign rail for Rio Tinto in WA;
•    Design and build the Antiene Rail coal unloader and a new 8km rail loop for Macquarie Generation in NSW;
•    Carry out a major rail upgrade through Brisbane’s southern suburbs including building a new 9.5km track and upgrading/reconstructing seven railway stations; and
•    Build an 8km rail loop track, associated signalling, wayside devices and inbound concrete structures, at the new coal export terminal at Kooragang Island, Newcastle.
Abigroup’s national operations director John Kirkwood said, “Our rail business has been expanding steadily and Greg’s appointment will help us continue this growth. He brings a wealth of experience and we welcome him on board.”
