Earthmoving plant imports up in July

Shipments of earthmoving equipment into Australia in July, improved appreciably by volume and declined slightly by value, according to the Skelton Sherborne shipping index.

  

Import volumes climbed by 14% to 1943 units although the customs FOB value dropped from $276m in June to $256m in July.
The company is however forecasting this to improve over the next two months, as it is currently engaged in shipping more mining equipment into Australia, than it has “in quite some time.”
Volumes of road making and paving equipment were up 58% to 153 units while aggregate screening equipment was up 347% to 143.
Excavators of less than 12t stood at 399 units while excavators and draglines of more than 12t were 39% were down to 96 units.
Imported wheel loaders numbered 296 while tracked loaders totaled 70, bulldozers 51 and graders 42, down 42%.
