Sydney International Airport car park awarded
|
Abigroup has won the design and construct contract to build a $45m eight storey car park at Sydney's International Airport Terminal. |
|
This contract builds on Abigroup's successful relationship with Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL), having recently completed the Central Terrace Building for the same client only months ago, as well as the Central MultiStorey Car Park in 2008.
The new car park will be constructed over the next 46 weeks within the busy confines of Sydney's International Airport precinct which handles more than 12 million visitors per annum. Designed to cater for 12 levels in the future, the car park is being built in response to increasing demand from travellers for conveniently located undercover parking spaces at the international airport terminal.
When complete the car park will have parking for approximately 2620 vehicles. There will be three lifts (with a provision for a fourth in the future should SACL wish to extend the car park to twelve levels) and two link bridges to the existing car park – one catering for cars and the other for pedestrians.
Work on the project commenced in early September.
